Mr. Cornelius Van Gorkum, a carpenter most of his life, was born March 19, 1868, at Pella,Iowa. He moved with his parents to a farm near Maurice at the age of four.

He married Miss Genzena Warntjes at Maurice about 60 years ago. She died in 1943.

Survivors include three sons, John of Des Moines, Marinus of Struble and Lester of Maurice; three daughters, Mrs. Goldie Nagel and Mrs. Ada Sinkey of Sioux City and Mrs. Cora Singer of Le Mars; and several grandchildren.

Funeral services were held last Wednesday at 1 o'clock at the home and at 1:30 at the First Reformed Church at Maurice, Reverend David Lamen officiating. Interment was at the Maurice Cemetery.
