Gerrit Van Es passed away at his home last Friday morning, age 60 years. He was born in Pella, Iowa and in 1872 he came with his parents to Sioux County and for many years he lived on a farm near Newkirk. When a young man he was united in marriage to Nellie Roos and lived on a farm in this vicinity.

Besides his wife, five married sons and daughters mourn his sudden death: Gerrit Van Es, Jr., Dick Van Es, Mrs. C. Jacobs, Mrs. J. Jacobs, all of Orange City and Mrs. Harold Pas, Alton.

The funeral was held last Monday afternoon from the First Reformed Church, Reverend H. Colenbrander officiating.
