Funeral services for Mr. Joe Van Geest, 48 will be held at the home on Friday, April 9, at 1:30 p.m. with Dr. H. Kuiper officiating.

Mr. Van Geest died at his home here yesterday (Wednesday) April 7 after a lingering illness.

The deceased, son of Cornelius and Jennie (Maas) Van Geest, was born July 7, 1899, on a farm northwest of Rock Valley and spent most of his life in this vicinity.

On October 18, 1920, he was married to Anna M. De Vries of Hull.

To this union two children were born, Lucille (Mrs. Gerrit Hylarides) of Sheldon and Dorothy (Mrs. Bob Den Hartog) of Lester.

Mr. Van Geest was an expert mechanic and operated an auto repair shop for some thirty five years.

His departure is mourned by he following survivors: his wife and two daughters; his aged mother, Mrs. Cornelius J. Van Geest; one brother, John Van Geest of Hudson; and six sisters, Lena (Mrs. T.J. Verros) of Hawarden, Gertie (Mrs. C. Den Hartog) of Rock Valley, Anna (Mrs. Ed Den Hartog) of Lester, Sella (Mrs. H.H. De Vries) of Kennebec, South Dakota, Martha (Mrs. William M. Gibson) of Greenville, Iowa and Marie (Mrs. Stanley Steven) of Grundy Center, Iowa.
