From the Rock Valley Bee, September 13, 1935:

Former Resident Passed Away

Henry Frank Bauman, a former resident of this vicinity for many years, passed away at the home of his son, Ed Bauman, near Britton, S.D., Saturday, September 7, his death being due to the natural decline of his advanced age.

Mr. Bauman was born at Prague, Bohemia, September 3, 1851, and at the time of his death had attained the advanced age of eighty-four years and four days. He came to this country when he was fourteen years old and settled in Wisconsin, and later moved to Kansas where he met and married Mary Riehskey, and three years later they moved to Doon vicinity. This was in 1885. The family later moved onto a farm southwest of Rock Valley where they lived for several years, moving from here to a farm near Britton in 1916.

Mrs. Bauman died May 3, 1890, leaving her husband and four sons and three daughters. All the children are living except one, John, who met an accidental death in 1927. Mr. Bauman is survived by three sons and three daughters: Frank of Sheldon; Joe of Audubon, Iowa; Ed of Kidder, S.D.; and Mrs. Mary Kelley, Audubon; Mrs. Anna Starr, Fairview, S.D.; and Mrs. Josephine Buffington, Luverne, Minn.

Funeral services were held at Britton Monday and the remains were brought to Rock Valley and from here taken to Doon for burial in the Doon Cemetery.
