Mrs. Klaas Vander Pol (Nee Geertje Kuik) was born on April 13, 1864 in the Province of Drenthe in the Netherlands, where her childhood days were spent and where she grew into young womanhood. Later she went to the province of Vriesland, where she afterward met Mr. Klaas Vander Pol whom she married on May 26, 1889.

In March, 1893, Mr. and Mrs. Vander Pol and son David arrived in the United States. They settled in Newkirk, Iowa, where they lived for 21 years and where the other four children were born. Four years were spent on a farm two miles south of Boyden and the last 12 years were spent in the town. On March 26, 1930, she passed away at her home in Boyden and went to her eternal reward.

She was devoted wife, a kind and loving mother, a sincere Christian who delighted in being about the Lord's business. She was loved and respected by all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Klaas Vander Pol of Boyden; five children, Dave Vander Pol, Rock Valley; Mrs. John Vande Gaarde (Ella Vander Pol) Sioux Center; Reverend Ralph Vander Pol, Danforth, Illinois; Mrs. Leonard Landhuis (Sylvia Vander Pol) Boyden; Mrs. John H. Klein (Gertrude Vander Pol), Monroe, Iowa; and 11 grandchildren.
