Funeral services were held at 1:30 Saturday afternoon at the First Reformed Church, Hospers, for Mrs. Douwe Vander Pol, who passed away from this life at her home east of town on Wednesday morning, January 1, 1941, after a lingering illness. Reverend G. Douwstra of the First Reformed Church of Hull, had charge of the services. Interment was made at the Hospers Cemetery west of town.

Mrs. Douwe Vander Pol, nee Gertrude Aria Kleinjan, was born in Rhoon, Netherlands, on October 2, 1880, and died at the age of 60 years and 3 months. She came to America with her parents in April, 1889, and the family then settled in the Orange City vicinity, On January 14, 1904, she was united in marriage to Henry Rensink, who preceded her in death in August 1907. Two sons were born to this union. In February 1911 she was married to Douwe Vander Pol, this marriage was blessed with three sons and one daughter.

Left to mourn her departure ate her husband Douwe Vander Pol; five sons, Peter and Henry Rensink of Deming, Washington, Otto, John and Oscar Vander Pol, at home; one daughter Bertha, Mrs. Henry Dykstra of Everson, Washington; 3 grandchildren; 3 brothers, Peter of Chicago, John and Arie Kleinjan of Sanborn and Mrs. Herman Maassen of Holland, Michigan, besides a host of friends.
