Mrs. John Van Der Poel, 89, of Rock Valley Hospital of a long illness.

Services were at 1:30 P.M. November 5 in Pioneer United Methodist Church. The Reverend David Waterman officiated. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery with the Porter Funeral Home in charge.

Mrs. Van Der Poel, the former Greta Zwaan, was born July 12, 1887, in The Netherlands. She came to the United States when a child. She was married June 8, 1927, in Rock Rapids. Mr. John Van Der Poel died January 20, 1949.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Edward (Margaret) De Haas of Rock Valley; two sisters, Mrs. Tom Ver Doorn of Rock Valley and Mrs. Jack Boote of Worthington, Minnesota and one grandchild.
