Birth record in the Netherlands lists Jentje Last born 28 May 1841 Zwolle Overijsel Neth., her parents were Jan Last and Jacobje Post. Marriage record lists Lambert Roetman born at Zeedijk Netherlands married 15 May 1862 at Zwollerkerspel, Overijssel, Neth. Married Jentje Last daughter of Jan Last and Jacobje Post.

Mr. and Mrs. L. Roetman are both confined to the house with illness. Mrs. Roetman has been sick for two weeks. Mr. Roetman took sick this week and their children. Mr. and Mrs. John Levering are taking care of the family.

We have the sad duty this week to chronicle the death of Mrs. L. Roetman who passed away on March 29th at the age of 75 years. Mrs. Roetman was born in the province of Overeissel, the Netherlands on May 28, 1841. She came to theUnited States in 1882, having been married to Lambert Roetman at Geneminden, the Netherlands previously. They settled soon after their arrival in Sioux county and were among the county pioneers. The funeral services were conducted by Revs. Vander Heide and Douwstra. Burial taking place at the Presbyterian cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. Roetman were married in the year 1862 and nine chldren were born to them and with whom they came to America locating in Hospers. November 1, 1882 and where they have lived ever since. She is survved by three sons, four daughters, [unable to read] grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren, also four brothers and one sister residing in Holland. Her youngest daughter, Alice, preceded her in death on August 5, 1896, and her oldest daughter, Mrs. J. Post, on February 8, 1897. The children are Mr. and Mrs. J. Levering [could be Loverling], of Hospers, Mr. and Mrs. J. Roetman of Lake Park, Mr. and Mrs. A.L. Roetman of Badger, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. G. Roetman of Sanborn, Mr. and Mrs. C.A. Timmerman of Rushmore, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. G. Lewis of Doon, and Mrs. H. Hornings [or Horlings] of Hull."
