Anthony “Tony” Vander Broek, 86, of Sioux Center, formerly of Orange City, died Monday evening in a Sioux City Hospital following a brief illness.

Services were at 10 A.M. Thursday in the Van Gelder Funeral Home at Orange City. The Reverend Cecil Martens officiated. Burial was in Sherman Township Cemetery at Maurice.

He was born on August 25, 1895 at Maurice. He married Martha Kleinhesselink March 5, 1924, at Maurice. Before his retirement he was a yardman for the Slagle Lumber Company of Orange City.

He was a member of the First Reformed Church of Orange City.

Survivors include his wife, Martha; one daughter, Mrs. Roy (Margie) Lubbers of Deep River, Minnesota; one son, John (Bud) of Sioux Center; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Gerrit (Henrietta) Riphagen, and one brother, Gerrit, both of Maurice.

Preceded in death by a son, Donald, who passed away August 24, 1974; also five brothers and five sisters.
