John Vanden Oever was born June 30, 1881, in Pella, Iowa. At the age of two months he moved to Sioux County, Iowa, where he has since resided.

On February 21, 1921, he was united in marriage to Kate Korthals Mulder, to which union seven children were born. Mr. Vanden Oever died on February 20, 1958, at the age of 76 years, 7 months and 20 days.

The seven children born to this union, all of whom, with Mrs. Vanden Oever, survive are: Cynthia, Mrs. Ralph Oostra of Hull, Iowa; Henrietta, Mrs. George Wassenaar of Steen, Minnesota; Catherine, Mrs. John Elmer De Wit of Hull, Iowa; Wilmina, Mrs. Anthony Smit of Hull, Iowa; Joan, Mrs. Donald Boeve of Hills, Minnesota; Evelyn, Mrs. Marvin Rens of Hull, Iowa; LaVonne, Mrs. Hilmore Kroese of Hull, Iowa; Gertrude, Mrs. Herman Vander Vliet of Hull, Iowa, and Jeanette, Mrs. John Russell Vander Zwaag of Hull, Iowa. He is also survived by one sister, Katie and twenty grandchildren.

Mr. Vanden Oever retired from active farming eleven years ago and since that time has resided on a small acreage near Hull, Iowa. Two years ago he suffered a stroke from which he never completely recovered. He will be greatly missed by his family and by his neighbors and friends.

Funeral services were held on Monday from the home and from the local First Reformed Church. Reverend N. Rozeboom officiated.
