IRETON PIONEER DIED SATURDAY

Charles Freemont Coon, 81, a pioneer resident of Ireton, passed away Saturday in a hospital at Emmetsburg. He had been in failing health for some time and three weeks ago he was removed from the home of his daughter in Emmetsburg to a hospital.

Funeral services were held Monday morning at the Mauer Funeral Home in Le Mars, with Reverend W.M. Hubbard in charge. Interment was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Ireton.

Charles Freemont Coon was born on January 8, 1863, at Portage, Wisconsin, where he grew up. He came to Ireton when a youth and worked at various occupations and operated a dray line for a number of years. He was united in marriage with Margaret White 56 years ago and she preceded him in death in 1936.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ethel Bray of Le Mars, Mrs. Ella Mulroney of Emmetsburg, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
