Mrs. Samual Wiley, nee Geneva Work, passed away in a hospital in Illinois, on the 11th of March 1920. The cause of her death being peritonitis. Her mother, who was called to her daughter’s bedside, brought the remains to Boyden, accompanied by Mr. Wiley and two children, arriving here on Saturday. The funeral services for the deceased were held on Sunday afternoon at the United Presbyterian Church, with Dr. W.T. McConnell, officiating. Interment was made in the Boyden Cemetery.

Geneva Work Wiley was born at Boyden on the 26th day of October, in the year of 1889 and passed away on Thursday, March 11, 1920, at the age of 30 years, 4 months and 14 days. She was the daughter of Mrs. C.E. (Thayer) Work and grew to womanhood in this community. She graduated from Boyden Public School in 1907, and afterwards taught in our county schools. She was married on the 24th of June, 1914, to Samual Wiley, whom she leaves with two children, Isca Pearl and Martha LaVone, to mourn her loss. Deceased also leaves to mourn her death, a mother and two sisters, Mrs. Charles E. Work of Boyden; Mrs. Fred Wagner and Mrs. Victor Powers of Sanborn, Iowa.

Mrs. Wiley’s sickness was of but brief duration. To her struggle and burden bearing of earth are ended. She was a kind and devoted wife and mother and will be greatly missed by her companion who mourns earth’s greatest loss. The children will go to live with Mrs. Powers which was her sisters last wish.
