Walter McBride of Hawarden and J.A. Lindenman and E.L. Morrison of this place motored to Hospers Wednesday to attend the funeral of Bastian Wierks of that place who passed away Sunday, October 26, 1924. Mr. Wierks had been in the service as carrier for 21 years and was nearly 59 years old at the time of his death.

He was married to Bertha Kramer in 1896 and to this union three sons were born. They are Clarence, who operates a drug store at Davenport; Harold, teaching at Cudahy, Wisconsin and Arthur, a mail carrier at home.
