J.P. Wierda Dies Suddenly

Jacob P. Wierda died on December 3, 1951 at the age of 77 years, 11 months and 29 days. He was born in Friesland, Netherlands and came to America at the age of 13 years.

He was united in marriage to Winifred Vander Kamp in 1894. To this union were born four children: Sadie (Mrs. A.G. Jansma) of Jefferson, Tillie (Mrs. Edward Sipma) of Los Angeles, California, James Wierda of Webster City, and Raymond of Alton. They lived in Sioux Center for some time, then moved to Hospers, where he was in the General Merchandise business for 26 years.

The mother of this marriage died on January 23, 1936.

He was united in marriage to Bessie Cambier in October, 1938 and has lived in Orange City for the past 13 years.

He leaves to mourn his death, his wife Bessie, two daughters, two sons, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also two step-children, Ruth (Mrs. Amos Van Etten) and Sadie (Mrs. Fred Zeilenga).

A brother Charles and sister Mrs. Kate Monson preceded him in death.

Funeral was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the First Reformed Church with Reverend H. Colenbrander officiating. Burial was in the Hospers Cemetery.
