Services held for Louis J. Wielenga

Funeral services were held for Lou J. Wielenga, 74, Tuesday, December 28, at the Calvary Christian Reformed Church. He died at the local hospital on Saturday, December 25, after a long illness. Reverend Edward Blankespoor officiated at the service.

He was born November 15, 1897, near Orange City. He married Johanna Scholten on March 23, 1922, in Orange City. They farmed northwest of Orange City until 1945 when they moved to town.

Pallbearers were Gerald Reinders, Jack Wielenga, George De Vries, Larry De Boer, Keith De Boer and Alan De Boer. Tim Schiebout was soloist with Mrs. John Vogel, organist.

Interment was in West Lawn Cemetery under the direction of Van Etten Funeral Home.

He is survived by his widow; three daughters, Mrs. Homer (Kathryn) De Boer, Mrs.Harriet Nichols of Alameda, California, and Miss Mary Wielenga of Lakeporte, California; two sons, Leland, Mountain View, California, Wilbur, Littleton, Colorado, three brothers, Nick, Orange City, Peter and Okko of Redlands, California, sister, Mrs. Gerrett Reinders of Orange City; 12 grandchildren.
