Death Calls Mrs. Reuters of Hospers
Long Resident called Beyond After Voyage of 69 Years.
Mrs. Peter Reuter died Monday noon at her home in Hospers after an Illness of almost a year. About a year ago she suffered a stroke of paralysis and had not been well since, death coming as a result of complications.
Mrs. Reuter was born in Basendorf Luxembourg in 1852 and in 1870 came to America. As Miss Catherine Unges she was married in 1872 to Peter Reuter the young couple making their home near Dyersville and in 1885 moving to Hospers. To them were born 15 children of whom five died in infancy and two later. Mrs. Joe Stackly diying five years ago at Geddes SD and Joseph dying in camp three years ago after whom the Hospers post American Legion is named. She is survived by her husband and the following eight children: Miss Anna, Sister Stephine of Oyens, Mrs. John Brandenburg and Mrs. Jake Diedrick of Hospers, Peter Reuter of Lismore, Nick Reuter of Alton. Mrs. Martin Gemder of Lismore and Leo of Hospers. Two brothers, John and Pierre Unges of Dubuque also survive.
The funeral was held from St. Anthony’s church Hospers on Thursday solemn high mass being celebrated by Rev. Fathers Dries of Hospers and Brune of Alton and Bausch of Granville. The pall bearers were the three sons and three son in laws. Mrs. Reuter will be greatly missed by all who were priviledged to know her.
