Funeral services for George Westra, 67, who died Thursday on his 67th birthday following surgery at a Sioux City Hospital, were held at 1:30 Saturday at the Ireton Christian Reformed Church. Reverend Alfred Hannink officiated and burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Westra was born in The Netherlands June 10, 1898 to John and Jeltje (Shaaf) Westra and came to the United States with his family at the age of 18.
On March 8, 1931, he married Miss Grace Fedders of Ireton.
He is survived by the widow; one daughter, Mrs. Mildred De Weerd of Hawarden; five sons, John and Glenn of Ireton, Harold of Sioux Center and Kenneth and Verlyn at home; two brothers, Charles and Sam of Ireton; four sisters: Mrs. Pete (Henrietta) Mieras of Orange City, Mrs. Henry (Sadie) Netten, Mrs. Richard (Bertha) Meyer of Sioux Center, and Mrs. Orvil (Anna) Kots of Bellflower, California; and seven grandchildren.
