Wilemine "Minnie" Westra, daughter of Dirkje Postma and Dries Van Dyke, was born March 31, 1889 at Kampen, Netherlands.

She was brought to Sioux County, Iowa as a baby and she grew up there.

After her marriage to John Westra at Hull, Iowa on October 18, 1910, they farmed in Northwest Iowa until moving to Sioux Falls in 1935. They celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary before his death in 1971.

She was a charter member of the First Reformed Church in Sioux Falls and also a charter member of the First Reformed Church in Sioux Falls Ladies' Aid, an organization through which she diligently served her church for many years.

Grateful having shared her life are 3 sons: Reverend Peter J. Westra, Jefferson, Iowa, Andrew, Aberdeen, South Dakota, John E. , Centerville, South Dakota; 4 daughters: Mrs. Dora Heinsma, Lakewood, California, Mrs. Clifford (Henrietta) Madland, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Mrs. Alfred (Nellie) Westra, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Mrs. Don (Marjorie) Vander Pol, Garden Grove, California; 31 grandchildren; 50 great- grandchildren; 2 brothers: John Van Dyke, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Andrew Van Dyke, Pipestone, Minnesota and a host of other relatives and friends.

Also preceding in death were 3 sisters: Nellie, Jane and Jennie; 2 brothers: Walter and Dick; and 2 grandsons, David and Charles Westra. Interment was in Hope Cemetery in Hull, Iowa. Lunch was served after the interment, at the Lou Van Batavia home.
