Parents: John Zoeteman (1870-1915) and Pietje DeHoog Zoeteman (1873-1965). Siblings: Leendert DeHoog Zoeteman (1897-1964) and Samuel Martin Zoeteman (1908-1922).

His death was covered in area newspapers, but with different spellings of his surname.

Alton Democrat, March 24, 1900, Boyden news: The five-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. John Suterman died very suddenly on Sunday. The funeral was held Monday from the Dutch Reformed church, Rev. Wolvius officiating.

Boyden Reporter, March 23, 1900: The eldest boy of Jno. Zoodeman west of town died sabbath afternoon. He had quinsy which broke and choked him to death. His funeral was held Monday from the Reformed church, Rev. Wolvius Pastor.
