Edgar F. Turner, who grew to young manhood on the farm of his father John Turner, several miles southeast of Hawarden, died on Tuesday, March 1st, at his home at Artesian, South Dakota. Accompanied by sorrowing relatives, the body was brought to Hawarden last Friday and funeral services were held at the Methodist Church, conducted by Reverend Traber, pastor of the Wesleyan Methodist Church of Artesian. Interment was made in Grace Hill Cemetery.

Edgar Franklin Turner was born July 9, 1885, at La Belle, Missouri and died March 1, 1927, at Artesian, South Dakota, at the age of 41 years, 7 months and 22 days. He moved with his parents to the vicinity of Hawarden at about the age of nine years and lived in this vicinity until 1910 when he moved to Artesian, South Dakota. He was united in marriage May 19, 1921, with Lydia Jane Carney of Marcus, Iowa. Three children were born to this union, one of whom died in infancy. His mother preceded him in death March 23, 1912.

Those left to mourn his death are his wife and two little sons, Melvin and Leo, his father, John Turner of Hawarden, two brothers, J.S. and J.R. Turner of Artesian, South Dakota and two sisters, Mrs. W.T. Rembe of Hawarden and Miss Hazel Louise Turner of Artesian, South Dakota, besides a large number of relatives and friend.

Mr. Turner was a member of the Wesleyan Methodist Church. He lived the life of a faithful Christian, always testifying to the saving grace of the Lord and Savior he loved. In his death his wife sustains the loss of a devoted husband, the two little sons a true father, the community in which he resided a good citizen.
