Hendrik Top, 91, passed away at his home, of old age and complications at 8:20 p. m. Saturday, January 22.

Mr. Top was born at Kamperveen, province of Gelderland, The Netherlands, October 4, 1846, where he grew to manhood and was married to Mrs. Jennie Vander Berg.

They came to America in 1880 and settled on a homestead in the Newkirk vicinity. Mrs. Top died shortly after their arrival and in 1884 he was married to her sister, Miss Wilimpje Vander Berg.

In 1908 the family moved to the village of Newkirk and in 1920 they moved to Orange City. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1934.

Mrs. Top died in August 1936. Of the nine children two died in infancy, one daughter, Mrs. Albert Beltman, died in 1918, a daughter of the first marriage, Mrs. Henry Van Veldhuisen died in 1921.

Survivors are Gerrit Top of Newkirk, Carrie, Mrs. Ed Zwaagerman, Hospers; Reka, Mrs. Gerrit Van Es Orange City; Anna, Mrs. John Van Oort, Newkirk, and William Top, Orange City. He is also survived by 23 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the home and 1:30 at the First Reformed Church with Reverend Mr. H. Colenbrander officiating assisted by Reverend Mr. Z. Roetman of Newkirk. Interment was made in the Newkirk Cemetery.
