Services held for Mrs. Bert Top

Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon, December 19, in the Second Christian Reformed Church for Mrs. Bert Top, 73, who passed away Saturday in a California hospital while visiting with the children. Death was due to a diabetic condition and several strokes.

Reverend Jay De Vries officiated with burial being made in the Westlawn Cemetery under the direction of the Van Etten Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Arnold Van Gelder, Henry Vande Waerdt, Cornie Stegink, Alvin Bomgaars, Delbert Top and Donald Top.

Mrs. Top, nee Gertie Feenstra, was born March 11, 1893 at Maurice, Iowa, and a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dick Feenstra. She was married to Bert Top on December 5, 1910 and the couple resided in Sioux County and South Dakota. They returned again to the Orange City area in 1928.

Survivors are the widower; two daughters, Mrs. Tony (Elizabeth) Swets of Long Beach, California, Mrs. Stanley (Kay) Bales of Englewood, California; two sons, Dick of Orange City and John of Hawaiian Gardens, California; 23 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Ed Van Gelder, Mrs. William Van Gelder both of Orange City and Mrs. William De Jong of Sibley and four brothers, Dick Feenstra of Orange City, Henry Feenstra of Sibley, Peter Feenstra of Ireton and Ted Feenstra of Oregon also survive.

Preceding her in death was a son Lambert who passed away in 1959, and a daughter Tracy in 1931.
