SERVICES HELD FOR GEORGE TOLMAN--FORMER ORANGE CITY BLACK SMITH

Funeral services for George Tolman, 61, longtime Orange City blacksmith, were held Tuesday at the Van Etten Funeral Home with Reverend Alvin A. Hook of the American Reformed Church officiating.

Mr. Tolman died in a Le Mars Hospital March 11, after suffering a heart attack. He had been operating a small blacksmith shop in Le Mars up until the time of his passing.

Born April 27, 189 in The Netherlands, he came to this country 50 years ago and opened a blacksmith shop in Orange City. In 1913, he returned to The Netherlands and married Hattie Slange. He and his wife Hattie immediately returned to Orange City where they resided until the past 16 years which were spent in Le Mars.

Survivors include the widow; three sons, William of Orange City, George of Westminister, California and Maurice of East Moline, Illinois; two daughters, Alice Van Roekel of Orange City and Margaretta Cool of Birmingham, Alabama; 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Interment was in the Orange City Cemetery.
