George Thorman passed away at his home Thursday morning, May 16 at 6’clock after a lingering illness, at the age of 57 years, 5 months and 22 days.

He was born November 24, 1878 at Chicago, Illinois. He was about two years old when his parents moved to Granville and he lived 30 years on the same place. On March 1 last, he moved to town. Deceased was a life long member of the Catholic Church. He was a man of deep religious conviction which were reflected in his daily association among his friends and in his family circles. In his passing the bereaved family loses a loving husband and father and the community one of its most loyal and creditable citizens.

George Thorman was married to Anna Krebs of Alton May 17, 1905. To this union were born three daughters and one son, one daughter, Gertrude, dying in infancy.

Surviving are the widow, Anna and the following children: Margaret, at home; Helen, Mrs. Tony Hundt; Clara, Mrs. Benjamin Ablers of Adrian, Minnesota and Mark of Granville; two grandchildren; also his aged mother, Mrs. Catherine Thorman; three sisters, Mrs. Catherine Miller, Mrs. Nic Schwebach, Mrs. Mathilda Lammers and four brothers: John, Joe, Henry and Chris, all of Granville.

Funeral services were held Saturday morning at 9 o’clock at St. Joseph Church in charge of Reverend Francis Illg. Interment took place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Pallbearers were Lawrence Spieler, Barney Hoefler, Chris Grady, Will Niichel, John Ney and Herman Bennier.
