Marion F. Tiemersma, son of Mr. and Mrs. F. Tiemersma of Orange City, who for the past four years has served in the United States Army, was fatally injured New Year's eve at the Fort Snelling Hospital in St. Paul where he had served as an orderly.

Returning to the hospital with a soldier companion, Tiemersma fell backwards while ascending the steps, his head striking so hard as to cause a hemorrhage, which caused his death almost instantly. His remains were brought to Orange City for burial.

He is survived by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
