Aart Uittenbogaard, 88, died Tuesday, January 15, at the Baum Harmon Mercy Hospital in Primghar.

Funeral services were at 10:30 A.M. Friday, January 18 at American Reformed Church in Primghar, Reverend Mark Volkers officiated.

Aart Uittenbogaard, the son of Gerrit and Nelsena Boerhave Uittenbogaard, was born November 29, 1914 at Sanborn. He attended country school near Sanborn and later country school near Boyden. On December 21, 1938 he was united in marriage to Corena Moret in Boyden. After their marriage the couple farmed near Boyden until 1958 when they moved to a farm near Primghar. The couple moved into Primghar in 1967 where Art was employed at the Anderson Hatchery until his retirement. He had been a resident of the Primghar Care Center since November 15, 1998.

He was a member of the American Reformed Church in Primghar and had served as deacon of the church. He enjoyed being on the farm and working in the garden.

Art leaves to cherish his memory his wife Corena of Primghar; one son and his wife, Gary and Patricia Uittenbogaard of Phoenix, Arizona; two daughters, Ellen and her husband, Richard Madsen of Sioux City and Betty Uittenbogaard of Primghar; four grandchildren, David and his wife Martha Uittenbogaard, Jessica and her husband James McInerney, Brian Breyfogle and Teresa and her husband Jason Mohwinkle; and a step-granddaughter and her husband, Debra and George Flores; five great-grandchildren, James, Thomas and Tiffany McInerney, and Dana and Ronald Uittenbogaard; two brothers, Edward and Willis Uittenbogaard, both of Boyden; and one sister, Margaret Moret of Boyden; also a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two grandchildren.
