This (Friday) morning, a telegram was received announcing the sad death of Mrs. Gregg Umhoefer at the home in Alvord, Iowa. The deceased was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schnee of this city. Emma was married about eight years ago and a husband and two children survived her. Mrs. Umhoefer was about 27 years of age and the immediate cause of her death was pneumonia and ling fever.

We are not informed where and at what time the funeral will occur.

Mrs. Emma Umhoefer was born and raised in this county and was a Christian woman with lots of warm friends. Her death will be a great shock to the family and friends.

The Democrat extends condolence and sympathy.

The funeral of Mrs. Gregg Umhoefer occurred in Alvord, Iowa, last Sunday at 9 o’clock A.M. and the remains were interred at the Catholic Cemetery in that city. Reverend Father McCormack of that city delivered a touching and beautiful oration and friends bedecked the casket with handsome flowers in grateful remembrance of the good woman so suddenly called from a usefulness.

Mrs. Emma Umhoefer was a lovely woman and her memory will be enshrined in the hearts of many mourning friends in this locality whose sympathy is extended to the stricken relatives.

Those from Alton who attended the obsequies was J.A. Pins, Mr. and Mrs. Umhoefer, Mr. and Mrs. H. Schnee, Mrs. Gregg Gerst, Henry Schnee, Jr., Pete Schnee, and Will Schnee.
