Born: 1882
Died: August 8, 1940

Henry Ungersma, life long invalid, passed on Tuesday at 3:00 P.M. at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dick De Graaf, where he had been a patient for the past four years. Confined to bed the past thirteen years, he had been gradually failing for some months.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 Thursday at the Alton Reformed Church.

He was born at Danforth, Illinois, 60 years ago and came with his parents to Sioux County in 1885. The family farmed south of Alton for some years, later moving to town, where the mother died in 1921 and the father in 1926. Henry was able to walk to school in his younger years but at the age of 13 lost the use of his legs and became an invalid. For some years he was able to get about in a wheel chair. For nine years he was in the care of Mr. and Mrs. John Songdrager and more recently at the De Graaf home. He received good care and attention and was always a grateful and patient sufferer, with a cheerful outlook on life in spite of his affliction.

He is survived by two brothers, Dick of Redfield, South Dakota and Arthur, who was in Montana when last heard from. His closest connection here is a cousin, Mrs. J.E. Jansen. The Menko Mulders and Van Dyks of Sheldon are also cousins.
