Funeral services for Arie Tensen, 100, of Sheldon, were held April 26 in the Newkirk Reformed Church with the Reverend H.A. Harmelink officiating. Burial was in the Newkirk Cemetery. Mr. Tensen died April 24 in a Sioux Center Hospital.

Arie Tensen was born November 29, 1874 in Andyk, The Netherlands. He came to the United States in 1881.

He married Johanna Holland February 20, 1901 in Orange City. Mrs. Tensen died July 9, 1952. Mr. Tensen farmed in the Sheldon area prior to his retirement.

Survivors include six daughters: Mrs. Peter (Kate) Postma of Sanborn, Mrs. Gerrit (Hattie) Alons of Boyden, Mrs. William (Gertrude) VerBurg of Primghar, Mrs. Joe (Mae) Van Aalsburg of Wilmar, Minnesota, Mrs. Cornelius (Nellie) Dekker of South Holland, Illinois and Mrs. Martin (Elizabeth) Van Aalsburg of Phoenix, Arizona. Also three sons Peter of Raymond, Minnesota, Harry of Hull and Joe of Newkirk; 33 grandchildren, 98 great-grand children and seven great-great-grand children.
