Last week, Friday, Mr. Derk Van Kley died at the age of almost 80 years. He had an attack of appendicitis and on account of his age and physical condition an operation was out of the question.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at home and in the First Reformed Church. Mr. Ten Kley is survived by his widow and 10 children, 50 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

The deceased was born in Zwartsluis Netherlands and was a skipper by trade for a period of 36 years. He married Mareajen (Margie) Gordworst on August 18, 1864 in Deventer, Netherlands. They immigrated to America on March 27, 1884, first they lived first at Baltic, New Jersey. Soon they moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan. But the call of the west was strong and they moved to Orange City. After having lived a few years in Orange City they once more took to the road and settled in Hull, North Dakota. Here Mr. Ten Kley farmed for eight years. At that time the Missouri boom came and the family packed their belonging on a moving wagon and went overland to Lebanon, Missouri. Here they stayed for three years and then moved once more to Sioux County settling in Sioux Center. Mr. Ten Kley was a citizen of Sioux Center for the last 27 years.

Last year the aged couple celebrated the 60th anniversary of their wedding day.
