Mrs. F. Van of Heart Attack Mrs. Fred Van Schepen. Sr., 79, for many years a resident of Ireton, died suddenly at her home there Wednesday night as the result of a heart ailment. Funeral services were held Tues day afternoon, January 4 at 1:30 P.M. at the home and 2:00 P.M. at the Christian Reformed Church^ of which Mrs. Van Schepen was' a member. The Rev. Paul Ouwinga officiated. Pallbearers were sons and sons-in-law of the deceased. Mrs. Van Schepen had complained of not feeling well on Wednesday and after retiring for the night, was stricken with a heart attack and died at 11 o'clock.

Gertrude Vander Tuig, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gerloff Vander Tuig, was born in the Netherlands, September 4, 1868 In 1866 she and two sisters came to the United States and settled in Patterson, N.J. There she was united in marriage with Fred Van Schepen on Sep 29, 1898. To this union four children were born.

The Van Schepens remained in Patterson until 1903 when they moved to Orange City where they resided for three years. They then moved to a farm northeast of Ireton and remained there for 3 years. At the end of that time they moved to a farm southwest of town residing there until 1917 when they retired and moved in the present home in Ireton.

The deceased is survived by her husband, Fred Van Schepen, Sr., three daughters, Mrs. Tony Vander Kooy and Mrs. Ed Van Engen of Ireton and Mrs. Henry Kooiker | of Grand Rapids, Mich.; three step-daughters, Mrs. Paul Anema of Ireton, Mrs. Teunis Vollink of Sheldon, and Mrs. Andrew De Jong of Estelline SD; Three step sons, Fred Van Schepen Jr., of Ireton, Nick Van Schepen of Lodi NJ., and Chris Van Schepen of Hull; a brother Nick Vander Tuig of Linden WA; two sisters, Mrs. Jennie Faber and Mrs. C. De Roos of Patterson NJ; 53 Grandchildren and 55 Great grandchildren. One son Gary preceded his mother in death, Feb. 15, 1948
