Fred Van Schepen Mr. Fred Van Schepen, age 84, of Hull, passed away Tuesday, January 6, at the Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull. The funeral service was held on Friday. January 9 at 2:00 p.m., at the Hope Christian 'Reformed Church in Hull. The Rev. Aldon Kuiper officiated. Interment followed at Hope Cemetery in Hull. The Oolman Funeral home was in charge of arrangements.

Fred was born January 7, 1913, at Ireton, the son of Chris and Johanna (Wynia) Van Schepen. At the age of 9, he moved to Hull with his family. On June 9, 1938, he married Minnie Hubers at Hull. They made their home at Hull, where Fred operated Van's Implement for many years. He retired in 1983. In December of 1994^ he became a resident of Pleasant Acres. Mr. Van Schepen was a member of the Hope Christian Reformed Church, where he had served as an elder on the consistory. He had also been a member of the Hull City Council and the Hull Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. and Mrs. Van Schepen did much traveling in the United States, and they also went to Europe.

Survivors include his wife; five children and their spouses, Creston "Tess" and Betty Van Schepen of Hull; Janice and Gil Blankespoor of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Marlys and Bob De Jong of Orange City; Bruce and Val Van Schepen of Orange City; and Tim and Joy Van Schepen of Hull; nineteen grandchildren, twenty-five greatgrandchildren; three brothers, Clarence Van Schepen of Columbus, Ohio; Donald Van Schepen of Hull; and Melvin Van Schepen of Hull; and a sister, Suzanna Vande Weerd of Rock Rapids. He was preceded in death by a brother, Louis Van Schepen.
