Funeral services were held last Thursday at Hull for a long time resident of the Community, Henry C. Techen.

Henry Techen died Monday noon at a Sheldon Hospital at the age of 91. He had been in failing health and had suffered a series of strokes recently.

The services held at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of rural Hull at 2 P.M. Thursday with the Reverend A. Hanson officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery, under the direction of the Kraai Funeral Home of Hull.

Henry C. Techen was born in Racine, Wisconsin, April 27, 1878. He moved to Sioux County with his family at an early age. On October 23, 1901, he married Martha Schlossin at Hull and the couple farmed in Lyon County for several years.

In 1907, they moved to a farm near Hull and he spent the remainder of his life there. Mr. Techen was one of the oldest members of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at Hull and served as an elder in the church for a number of years.

Survivors are three sons: Art and Wilbur, both of Hull, and Elmer of Doon; three daughters: Esther, Mrs. Ray Schmith of Paullina; Amy, Mrs. Art Schmith of George; and Mathilda, of Hull. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents, three brothers, six sisters and his wife, who died in March, 1953.
