Mr. Gary Wissink, age 75, of Hull, passed away on Monday, May 20, 2019, at Sioux Center Health.
There will be a memorial service on Friday, May 24, at 3:00pm, at the American Reformed Church in Hull. The Rev. Steve Bierly will officiate. Interment will be prior to the service at the Hope Cemetery in Hull. There will be a family prayer service on Friday, at 2:00pm, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Hull.
Visitation with the family will be on Thursday, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, at the funeral home.
Gary was born on September 12, 1943, in Bellflower, California, the son of Jacob and Alice (Vanden Bosch) Wissink. In 1945, his family moved to Iowa, settling at Melvin. In 1948, they moved to Sheldon, where he graduated from the Christian School.
He held a variety of occupations, including twenty years at Vink Furniture and five years at Drenkow Motors, both in Sheldon. In 1988, Gary moved to Hull.
On October 6, 1989, he married Minerva Jane Bonestroo at the First Reformed Church in Hull, where they continued to live.
Mr. Wissink was a member of the American Reformed Church in Hull.
He enjoyed building and collecting many model cars. He was known for sending Christmas cards to everyone he knew.
Survivors include his wife of more than 29 years; his sister, Elsie Wissink, of Sheldon; his mother-in-law, Anne Bonestroo, of Okoboji; his sister-in-law and her husband, Vera and James Verdoorn, of Hull; three nieces, Priscilla Gammon, Gina Verdoorn, and Jillian Verdoorn; and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials may be directed to the building funds of the American Reformed Church in Hull and the Sheldon Christian School.
