Mr. Darrell Noteboom, age 67, of Orange City, passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2019, at the Prairie Ridge Care Center in Orange City.

There will be a memorial service on Wednesday, May 22, at 11:00am, at the First Christian Reformed Church in Orange City. The Rev. Mark Vande Zande and Pastor Gale Tien will officiate. Interment will be prior to the service at the West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City. There will be a family prayer service on Wednesday, at 10:00am, at the CHURH.

Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm, at the CHURCH.

Arrangements are with the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

Darrell Lee was born on July 29, 1951, in Sioux Center, the son of Peter Ira and Leona Irene (Faber) Noteboom. He was raised in Orange City, where he attended the Orange City Christian School and graduated from the Unity Christian High School. He then attended Dordt College in Sioux Center for two years before becoming part of the 185th Air Guard in Sioux City, working as a jet engine mechanic.

On March 10, 1973, he married Kathryn A. Branderhorst in Pella. They made their home on a farm south of Hawarden where he crop farmed, and raised cattle, sheep, and hogs. Darrell worked at Daale Trucking in Hawarden, and the Ireton Co-op and Professional Nutritional Management, both in Ireton. In 1992, he and “Kate” moved to Alton, and he worked for Orange City Trailers. In March of 2018, Darrell became a resident of the Happy Siesta Care Center in Remsen, and in August, he transferred to the Prairie Ridge Care Center.

Mr. Noteboom was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church in Orange City and a former member of the Hawarden Christian Reformed Church, and the Immanuel Christian Reformed Church in Orange City. He served several terms as a deacon and one term as an elder. He also served on the boards of the Ireton Christian School and Unity Christian High School.

Darrell enjoyed riding motorcycle, camping, Ford Mustangs, model trains, fixing things, going to farm sales, having coffee with friends, and going out for supper. The time he spent with his grandchildren was very important. Faith, family, and friends were everything to him.

Survivors include his wife of more than 46 years; three children and their spouses, Shanelle and Ryan Raines, of Alton; Nick and Maria Noteboom, of Orange City; and Shondra and Evan Wielenga, of Hull; eight grandchildren, Elijah and Raeleigh Raines; Nicholas, Carson and Karli Noteboom; and Haley, Jessie and Reese Wielenga; his mother, Leona Noteboom, of Orange City; two brothers and their wives, Mark and Barb Noteboom, of Orange City; and Peter and Jeanette Noteboom, of Toronto, Canada; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Memorials may be directed to the Hull Christian School, the Orange City Christian School, or the Unity Christian High School.
