Mrs. Marie Van Rooyen, age 56, of Orange City, died Sunday, March 29, 1992 at St Luke's Regional Medical Center in Sioux City, after a short illness.

Marie Louise was born Feb. 17,1936 at Orange City, the daughter of John J. and Hermina (Geurink) Kroeze. She was, a lifetime resident of Orange City. On Dec. 12,1952 she married Jacob Leroy Van Rooyen at Orange City. She was employed by the House of, Orange, and for the past five years, the Royal Dutch Bakery, all in Orange City. Marie was an active member of the Trinity Reformed Church of Orange City where she was a member of Reformed Church Women, a circle, and the choir. She was also involved in the Sunday School as a pianist and a teacher. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing cards with her friends.

Survivors include her husband "Jack" six children, Jackie and her husband Bob Buckley of Waterloo, Brad and his wife Ardis of Alden, Tom and his wife Diane of Orange City, Jeff of Orange City, Becky and her husband Keith Beezhold of Chesapeake. Va., and Patty and her husband Mark Bockelman of Napoleon, Ohio; 15 grandchildren; three sisters, Henrietta Brolsma of Apple Valley, Cailf., Evelyn Nels of Weed, Calif., and Esther Newell of Miami, Fla., and brother, Galen Kroeze of Knoxville, Tenn. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Daniel Van Rooyen.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 1 at the First Reformed Church of Orange City with the Rev. Donald De Gloppehof the Trinity Reformed Church officiating. Interment followed at West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City, under the direction of the Van Etten-OolmanVan Gelder Funeral Home of Orange City.
