Kenneth Persoon, 64, of Gaston, Ore., formerly of Maurice, died Tuesday, June 7, in a Sioux City hospital after a sudden illness. Memorial services were Thursday in the First United Methodist Church in LeMars. The Rev. Robert Robinson officiated. Burial will be at a later date in Oregon.

Mr. Persoon was born Nov. 22, 1923 in Lester. He was raised in Doon and lived in Rock Valley for 25 years. He married Evelyn Bannert Feb. 27, 1941 in Parker, S.D. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked as a steel fabricator for Gus Tesch and McCrackens Concrete Machinery Co. of Sioux City until forced to retire in 1975 because of poor health. He moved to Oregon in 1982.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Gloria Kistner of Sioux City, Bonnie Peterson of Orange City and Janet Lee of Oregon; three sons, Delbert of Storm Lake and Keith and Doug both of Grand Prairie, Tex.; 17 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren
