Stewart, Ruth N. (Mrs. Wayne) 1922-1988

Ruth N. Stewart, of Alden, formerly of Orange City, died Tuesday, May 31, at her home at the age of 65. Services were held Saturday, June 11 at Immanuel Memorial United Church of Christ in Alden. Patti Fisher officiated.

Ruth was born on Sept. 12, 1922, at Wausa, Neb., the daughter of Arthur E. and Naomi Josephine Shellberg Tunberg. She attended school at Oakland, Neb., and graduated from Oakland High School with the class of 1940. In 1942 Ruth was united in marriage to Curt Sanfos in Nebraska. He later died in 1952. On Feb. 14, 1953, Ruth was united in marriage to Wayne Stewart at Tekamah, Neb. Ruth and Wayne made their home in St. Louis, Mo., following their marriage, until 1962. In 1962 the couple moved to Orange City where they were co-editors and co-publishers of The Sioux County Capital, a weekly newspaper in Orange City. In 1974 they moved to Alden where Ruth was employed as an advertising salesperson for The Advertiser of Iowa Falls. She retired in 1981. She was a member of Eastern Star.

She is survived by her husband Wayne; three daughters, Mrs. Brian (Jane) Bangs of Dows, Susan Stewart of Fort Dodge and Mrs. Charles (Jean) Griesel of Arlington Heights, IL.; one son, Robert, of Culver City, Calif.; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Natalie Carlton of Osceola, Mo., and Marian MacDonald of Ft. Collins, Colo., and one brother, Edwin Tunberg of Bellevue, Wash.

She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, one daughter, Mary Morris in 1986 and one sister, Vivian Fredstrom.
