Mrs. Tietje Talsma passed away Thursday evening, March 15, 1928, at nine o’clock, at the home of her daughter, Mr. J. Flauck. She had reached the age of 77 years and nearly two months. She enjoyed good health until about seven weeks ago when she became bed ridden.

Tietje "Tillie" De Wit was born in Oosterlitten, Friesland, Netherlands, January 24, 1851. In May 1875 she was married to Klass Talsma, who preceded her in death in 1906. She came to this country in 1907 and has lived in this vicinity since then with the exception of one year when she lived in Pipestone, Minnesota.

Seven children, thirteen grandchildren, two brothers and a host of relatives and friends mourn her death. The children are: Simon in the Netherlands, Meindert, Mrs. J. Haack, Rein, Martin and Mrs. M. Dykstra all of this vicinity; and Mrs. Fred DeVries of Edgerton, Minnesota.

The funeral services were held on Monday, March 19th at the First Reformed Church in Hospers of which the deceased was a member for many years. Reverend Stegeman conducted the funeral services which were attended by a large concourse.
