Fred Swier, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward J. Swier, was born October 24, 1930, in Rock Valley, died June 16, 1943, at the age of 12 years, 7 months, and 23 days.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 10, at 1:30 at the home and at 2:00 o’clock at the Christian Reformed Church with the pastor, the Reverend H.J. Triezenberg, in charge. After the services the remains were taken to the Valley View Cemetery where burial took place.

Fred was sick for three weeks at the Hull Hospital following an appendix operation.

Fred was a very active boy. He was a Tribune-Journal and Journal carrier and was a very brave boy during his sickness and testified he was going to Jesus-- which is the family’s great comfort.

He leaves his parents, four brothers and five sisters--Fanny, Gertrude, Cornelius, Viola, Grace, Lorance, Bernard, Clarence, Ruth; also his aged grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred De Jong, who are both helpless, and many other relatives.
