Laverne Stueven was born March 18, 1929, the son of August Stueven and his wife Betty nee Bahlke, living 6 miles southwest of George, Iowa. The family was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church, and Laverne received his education in the Christian Day School of that congregation.

In his teenage it wad discovered that Laverne was suffering from a diabetic condition. many years was able to lead a normal life until last fall his condition became more serious. Since this summer he has been invalided at home, and Thursday, November 21, at 7:00 A.M. he parted from this life at the age of 28 years, 8 months and 3 days.

Funeral services were held on Monday, November 25, at St. John Lutheran Church, pastor P.A. Hinrichs, D.D. officiating. Interment was made at the congregational cemetery.

Members of the immediate family are his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. August Stueven and five brothers: Marvin of Boyden, Winifred of Rock Rapids, Rueben, Harold and Kenneth at home.
