Born: August 8, 1864
Died: July 13, 1917

Mrs. Henry Stueven, wife of Henry Stueven of Wheeler Township and mother of a number of highly respected children who are living mainly in this vicinity passed away at the family home Friday morning about four A.M., following a stroke of paralysis attacking her Thursday night. She had been in good health and the stroke was a shock to the family and neighbors, and her sudden death was so unexpected as to take the family without warning and it is hard for husband and children to reconcile themselves to her departure.

The funeral services were held Monday afternoon, from the house and from the Baetke Church, conducted by the pastor, Reverend William Baetke. The children as well as a large number of relatives and friends were in attendance to pay tribute to her memory and respect to a beloved wife and mother--a good neighbor and splendid, Christianly woman. Burial was made in the St. John's Cemetery, Boyden, Sioux County, Iowa.

Margaretta Sophia Catharina Woelber-Stueven was born August 8, 1864, in Bulkan, Hanover, Germany, and was baptized in the Lutheran Faith on August 29th, the same year.

In 1884, on May 4th, she was united in marriage to Henry P. Stueven, of the home community and on March 9th, 1891, the Stuevens came to America and first stayed at the home of their friends, Mr. and Mrs. Claus Vagts, of Wheeler Township, and from the date of their arrival in Lyon County they have always claimed this their home, and have continuously lived in the same township.

Twelve children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Stueven, seven boys and five girls. Two of the daughters preceded the mother in death, and the remaining children except two sons, Willie and John Stueven, who live in the vicinity of Pipestone, Minnesota, are either living at home or in the home vicinity.

The children are Willie and John, of Pipestone, Minnesota, Claus and Herman, who live in Wheeler Township; Mrs. Johann Habbinga, of near town; Mrs. William Winter, of Garfield Township; and August, Frederick, Catharin and Henry, who are at home, and who with their father remain to mourn the death of a beloved mother and wife, a good neighbor and friend, and a sincere Christian woman.

The bereaved have the deepest sympathy of friends and neighbors in their hour of sorrow.
