Minnie Stueven, 87, of Sanborn, Iowa, formerly of Boyden, died Tuesday, June 20, at the Northwest Iowa Health Center in Sheldon.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 24, at the St. John Lutheran Church in Boyden, the Reverend Steve A. Mehl officiated. Burial followed in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery under the direction of Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Boyden.

Mrs. Minnie Meta Margaritha (Hollander) Stueven was born January 28, 1913, in Hull, the daughter of Chris and Adele (Sohl) Hollander. She was baptized at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hull. She graduated from St. John Lutheran Parochial School in Boyden and was confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Boyden. She married Henry A. Stueven on February 9, 1934,in St. John Lutheran Church in Boyden. They lived on a farm in Lyon County for 14 years. In 1948, they moved to a farm near Matlock. He died December 1, 1987. She moved into Boyden in November of 1988 and became a resident of Prairie View Retirement Home in Sanborn on July 1, 1999.

She was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church in Boyden, where she taught Sunday School for many years and was a member of the Dorcas Society. She volunteered for 20 years in the activity department of the Good Samaritan Home in George. She was named Iowa Volunteer of the Year in 1988. She enjoyed reading, sewing and music.

Survivors include a son, Loren and his wife, Judy; a daughter, Delores and her husband, Norven Winter; and a daughter-in-law, Clleon Stueven, all of Boyden; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Wayne; three grandsons, James, Michael, and Torn Stueven; a brother Herman.

Pallbearers will be Paul Winter, Richard, Robert, Douglas and Eugene Stueven and James Hembd.
