Druyvesteyn, Christine (Mrs. William) nee’ Vanden Berge 1894-1984

Mrs. Christine Druyvesteyn, 90, of Orange City, passed away Saturday, Oct. 20, at the Prairie View Retirement Home in Sanborn.

Christine was actually baptized Anna Christina. She was born April 8, 1894, the daughter of John Vanden Berge and Christina Christensen Vanden Berge. On Dec. 27, 1917, she married William Adrian Druyvesteyn at Orange City. They farmed in the Orange City area, until retiring to town in 1960. Mr. Druyvesteyn passed away Nov. 9, 1969, at Orange City.

On June 5, 1984, Mrs. Druyvesteyn became a resident of the Prairie View Retirement Home. She was a member of the American Reformed Church of Orange City.

Survivors include her son, Vern, of Tucson. Ari7,; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Matthew (Martha) Schafer, of Sioux City; and Mrs. Oren (Maybelle) Van Iperen, of Orange City; and several nieces and nephews,

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Druyvesteyn was preceded in death by four sisters, Mrs. Cornelius (Berdena) Vogelaar, Mrs. Harry (Alice) Wallinga, Miss Evelyn Mae Vanden Berge and Mrs. Nick (Marie) Eggink; and her brother, John Vanden Berge, Jr.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Oct. 24, at the American Reformed Church, with the Rev, Marlin Vander Wilt officiating. Interment followed at West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City under the direction of the Van Etten-Oolman Funeral Home of Orange City.
