Sioux Center News of Nov 20, 1958

Funeral services were held November 8 at the First Reformed church of Orange City for Mrs. Arie Drost,, 72, who passed away at the Methodist hospital in Sioux City November 5th following surgery. Rev. Henry Colenbrander officiated and interment was made in the Orange City cemetery under the direction of the Van Etten Funeral Home.

Mrs. Drost, nee Jennie Gros, was born in the Netherlands April 24, 1886. She came to America with her husband, John Westra, and their two children in 1913 and the family settled at Orange City Mr. Westra died in 1918, during the First World War. The departed later married Arie Drost on December 4, 1919

Survivors are the widower and the following sons and daughters: Gerrit of Rushmore MN, Tracy, Mrs. John Halema, of Worthington, Minn.; Minnie, Mrs. Dick Veenstra, of Ireton; Gerald and Maynard Drost of Denver, Colo.; Wilma. Mrs. Edward Van Zee, of Starbuck, Minn.; Irene, Mrs. Bert Jones, of Denver, Colo., and Rudy Drost and Dorothy, Mrs. Harold Kleinhesselink, of Orange City. Also surviving are 34 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. One child preceded her in death many years ago.
