Ed Driesen, 80, formerly of Rock Valley and Alton, died Friday, Aug. 1 at the Happy Siesta Nursing Home in Remsen. A private family service was held Aug. 4 at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City with the Rev. C. Orville Kool officiating. Interment was in Valley View Cemetery in Rock Valley.

Edward J. Driesen was born Feb. 12,1923 at Rock Valley, the son of James and Hendrikje Evenboer Driesen. He was raised in Rock Valley. On Jan. 27, 1942 he married Elsiena Kooima at Dakota City, Neb. They farmed at Rock Valley until 1971, then moved to Marcus, where he was a salesman for Gross Implement. Mrs. Elsiena Driesen died on June 6,1984.

On May 22,1987 he married Blanche Ann Mulder Vrieze at Alton. They made their home in Alton. Mrs. Blanche Driesen died Jan. 8, 2003.

Survivors include nine children, Jim Driesen of Hawarden, Sam Driesen of Rock Valley, Harlan Driesen of Doon, Ted Driessn of Rock Valley, Joann Bauder of Hawarden, Duane Driesen of Washta, Glenn Driesen of Aurelia, Arlo Driesen of Alton, and Lyle Driesen of Alton; a daughter-in-law, Florence Vink of Rock Valley; 19 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Jen Buma of Bellflower, Calif, and Tena Gerritsen of Chino, Calif. In addition to his wives, he was preceded in death by a son, Allen Driesen, three brothers and five sisters
