Emma Dirksen Age 92 Emma Dirksen, 92, of Rock Valley, formerly of Artesia, CA, died Wednesday, December 25,2002 at Southridge Health Care Center, Sioux Falls, SD. A Funeral service was held at First Christian Reformed Church in Rock Valley on Saturday. Burial will be at Artesia Cemetery at Cerritos, CA.

Emma was born December 12, 1910 at Firth, NE, daughter of John and Rene (Andringa) Obbink. She married Michael (Mike) Dirksen, February 8, 1933 at Rock Valley. Together they lived near Lebanon, Sioux Center, Hawarden, Hartley, and .Rock Rapids, Iowa before moving to Artesia, CA in 1960.

At Artesia, Emma was a cook including baking many pies for the Christian Home for the Aged. Mike died in 1992. Emma moved to the Valley Manor at Rock Valley in October of 1994. Surviving relatives include one son Don and his wife Lucy Dirksen of Ferndale, WA; three daughters and their husbands: Ruth and Klaas Voss of Sioux Falls, SD, Evelyn and Ronald Klaassen of Lakewood, CA, Carol and James Van Den Berg of Lynden, WA, Joyce and Dennis Van Hulzen of Sioux Falls, SD; daughter-in-law Gerdena Dirksen of Sanborn, IA; 23 grandchildren; 30. great-grandchildren; 1 great-greatgrandchild.

Emma was preceded in death by her husband, Mike; son John in 1997; one great-grandson; three brothers, William, Richard, and Henry Obbink; two sisters, Anne Vander Lugt and Bertha De Graaff
