Harm Albert Dirks was born September 17, 1854 at Holtrop Germany and died December 24, 1921, at the Community Hospital at Le Mars, where he had been taken for cancer treatment the week prior. The deceased came to America at the age of twelve years, and resided with his parents in Illinois for some time. He came to Plymouth county as a young man.

In 1874 he was untied in marriage to Miss Mary Braul and to this union were born ten children, all of whom, with their mother, mourn the departure of a loving father and husband. The deceased came to Sioux County about thirty years ago, settling on a farm southwest of town, where they resided until 1908, at which time they retired, moving to Ireton, where he lived until the time of his demise. He was ever a good father and an upright progressive citizen.

The children are: Albert, William, Henry, Fred, and John, of Ireton and vicinity. Herman, George, Richard, Mrs. Richard Busch, and Mrs. Georg Oltmanns of Chester SD.

The funeral services were held Saturday at 1:30 from the Lutheran church Rev. J. E. Rich. Schmidt having charge of the services.
