Rhinehart Dierks, who was employed on the R. A. Patrick farm, passed away at 6:15 Sunday evening at the Hawarden hospital, following a stroke which he suffered Saturday morning. Mr. Dierks was assisting with feed grinding at the Patrick farm when he was stricken. He had loaded a wagon of feed, and when he did not show up with it at the grinder, his co-workers started to investigate. They found him in an unconscious condition on the ground beside the wagon. He was taken in an ambulance to the Hawarden hospital, where he died without regaining consciousness.

Funeral services were held at the Rosa Funeral home at 2:30 o'clock on Tuesday afternoon, with Rev. C. A. Burkhart of the Trinity Lutheran church in charge. Wednesday morning, William Dierks and A. Earl Ross accompanied the body to Gladbrook, la., where services were held at the Lutheran church. Interment was in the Gladbrook cemetery.

Rinehart Emmanuel Dierks was born at Gladbrook, Iowa, April 1. 1896, and departed this life March 21, 1943, at the age of 45 years, 11 months and 14 days. He was baptized and confirmed in the 'Lutheran church at Gladbrook. He grew up at Gladbrook, but left that part of Iowa in 1920. For the past 15 years or so he lived in the Hawarden vicinity. For about three or four years he farmed for himself, but for the past year and a half he had been employed by R. A. Patrick. He is survived by six brothers, William of Hawarden; Fred of Sioux Center; Herman of Inwood; Albert of Gladbrook; Paul of Marshalltown, and Herbert of Waterloo. His parents preceded him in death.
