Mrs. Frank (Genoveva) Diederich, 87, of Granville, died Tuesday, March 9,1993 at Holy Spirit Retirement Home in Sioux City after a lengthy illness. Services were held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Granville. The Rev. Clem Currans officiated. Burial was in the parish cemetery under the direction of the Fisch Funeral Home of Remsen.

Genoveva was born Jan. 26,1906 in Granville, the daughter of Domminick and Catherine (Meyer) Goergen. She was raised and educated in the Granville area. She did domestic work in the Granville area prior to her marriage to Frank Diederich Feb. 10, 1938 at Granville. He died Jan. 29, 1944. She worked as a bookkeeper and operator with the Granville Telephone Association from 1944-59. She then worked for the Northern Iowa Telephone Co. until retiring in 1987. She had been a resident of Holy Spirit Retirement Home since Sept 5,1990.

Mrs. Diederich was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, St. Joseph's Guild, and National Catholic Order of Foresters, of which she was treasurer from 1939 until 1990.

Survivors include three brothers, Julius and Louis Goergen of Remsen and Edward Goergen of Lebanon, Ore.; a sister, Mrs. Joseph (Justina) Schuetz of Sioux City; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Hubert in infancy; two sisters, Bathilda in infancy and Mrs. Gregor (Melinda) Schemmel.
